Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools

All Aboard Communication uses a range of software tools to support clinical work, scheduling, and administration. Some of these tools use artificial intelligence.

We apply the following limits to the use of artificial intelligence in this practice:

We do not enter your personal health information into general-purpose artificial intelligence tools. This includes tools such as chatbots and writing assistants that are available to the public. These tools are operated by companies that are not health information custodians, that are not bound by Ontario’s Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 (PHIPA), and with whom this practice has no agreement governing the handling of health information.

Where artificial intelligence is used to support clinical thinking, such as generating ideas for session activities, it is used only with de-identified or hypothetical information. This means information from which your name, your child’s name, date of birth, school, address, and any other identifying details have been removed, and which cannot reasonably be used to identify you or your child.

Before adopting any artificial intelligence tool that would handle personal health information, this practice will confirm directly with the vendor that the tool complies with PHIPA and the Enhancing Digital Security and Trust Act, 2024, will put a written agreement in place governing the handling of that information, and will inform you and seek your consent before the tool is used in your care.

Clinical decisions are made by your clinician. Artificial intelligence tools are not used to make diagnoses, determine eligibility for service, or decide the course of your child’s treatment.

You may ask. You are entitled to ask what software this practice uses, how your information is handled, and to raise any concerns. Questions can be directed to Theresa Patenaude, privacy contact for All Aboard Communication, at theresa@allaboardslp.ca or 613-239-5798.

If something goes wrong. If your personal health information is used or disclosed without authority, you will be notified as soon as possible and told what happened, what information was involved, and what steps were taken. You also have the right to make a complaint to the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario at 1-800-387-0073 or ipc.on.ca.
